Large Selection of Various Reptile Supplies
Increasingly, reptiles are becoming more and more popular as pets. Unlike the freedom of owning a dog or cat, reptiles must have enclosures or cages, and need many different types of supplies to keep them healthy and to sustain their lives. You can purchase these supplies online or at pet stores, and sometimes may need to go to an exotic store to get the supplies you need.
Having a reptile is a lot of work. They each have very specific needs and they need certain reptile supplies, some which will be used throughout the life of the animal and others that will need to be replaced very often. Here is a list of some of the types of supplies you may need to consider when purchasing a reptile:
- Reptile Cages: The most obvious type of reptile supplies that ever owner must consider – the home!
- Thermometers and Barometers: Many reptiles have specific needs when it comes to temperature and humidity. It’s important to be able to track these numbers to keep your animal healthy!
- Ultra violet light: Most reptiles require special UV light to survive. When considering reptile supplies, this is also at the top of the list.
- Food: Live animals? Insects? Crickets? Meal worms? Fruit? Vegetables? What does your reptile eat? Make sure to read up on this before feeding your animal!
- Scoops: These are perfect for helping to clean your reptile cage. These are vital reptile supplies, especially when you want to keep your hands clean and away from whatever it is that your reptile is eating – or maybe even your reptile itself!
- Reptile Handling Hook: This hook is useful for handling large or aggressive snakes.
- Aquatic Forceps: These will allow you to reach into your terrarium, especially the parts that are filled with water, without having to get your entire arm wet. Not only will it keep you dry, but it will keep you from infecting the water with any bacteria on your arm, and will keep the water from infecting you!
- Reptile Handling Gloves: Gloves are essential when handing reptiles that can hurt you. Gloves can help alleviate your fears of being bitten or scratched, and can also serve as protection when you are handling your reptile during a cage-to-cage transfer or cleaning.
- Meal Feeding Dishes: If your animal eats food that can get away, or food that can spoil, make sure to purchase some type of meal dish for the animal. It will make cleaning up much easier and will also provide your animal with a stable place to always look for food. This is very important, as is the proper amount of water being provided.
- Filter: Filtration keeps the terrarium and its water clear, odor-free and clean. Most filters have an adjustable button for low or high water levels. A filter can be very important, as will help to keep down discoloration in your terrarium, while also filtering out debris and ammonia.
This list gives you an idea of the types and amounts of reptile supplies you should consider when purchasing a reptile. It is by no means a complete list and it is strongly recommended that you research the particular reptile you are considering prior to purchasing the animal or any reptile supplies. Make sure the reptile supplies you get match the animal that you want. Some of these supplies are not necessary for your animal, but some others may be me. So make sure to look into all the types of reptiles you can get, talk to as many owners or handlers as you can, and make sure you have the resources to continue providing the right reptile supplies for your animal for many years.
